Poplin

Poplin is one of the largest outposts in The Seam and is spread out horizontally as opposed to vertically. Ancient volcanic rocks were moved together and the surface was smoothed out and planted in order to provide food for the rest of the Seam.

Poplin Town

Poplin Town is the population centre in Poplin. It sits on the lower eastern edge of Poplin. It’s a small town where dock workers and the business that support them live. Workers on the farms also live here and commute in the mornings to the land on which they work.

The Docks

Poplin ships food all over the Seam. As such they have a large dock and shipping area. Closer to the docks are large warehouses and silos for storing food and materials.

Temple of Pelor

A small shrine to Pelor sits in the town. It’s run by Priest Thomas, a seven year long native of Poplin, having come from outside of the Seam. It acts a place where workers can offer alms. It also serves as the main place of healing and mortuary for the town.

Jopos’ Concoctions

An apothecary that was once run by the late Jopos Tealeaf. A hidden basement shows equipment that was used to mix his potions with inert ingredients to increase their volume whilst diminishing their efficacy.

The Grain Store

A popular tavern by the dockside which was converted from an old set of three grain silos.

The Black Seed

A smaller, grottier tavern in the darker parts of Poplin Town. It is the base of operations for Red Hand Logistics in Poplin.

Down a trapdoor behind the bar is a much larger space used by the Red Hand for socialising and arranging business transactions. The Knuckle of the Hand in Poplin is named Joana Marquet. She has been ruling the Poplin underworld for just under a year, having been instructed by the Red Hand themselves to increase the hand’s presence there after the failings of her, now absconded, predecessor Salvatore Bruno (who Jarvis has a relationship with). She has a reputation for being utterly ruthless in her approach.

The Mansion

The Governors Mansion sits on a small rise in the centre of Poplin. This rise oversees the farms of Poplin. The Governor is an unelected inherited position and the current Governor, Governor Jacob Parkin has been ruling for the past thirty years.

The Catacombs

Beneath Poplin a network of volcanic tunnels, almost aero-like in composition. Many illicit businesses will use these catacombs to hide their illegal work.

The Woods

A wild untamed woods grows on the north side of Poplin. Hunters will often go bird hunting in there.

The Old Governor’s Mansion

In the woods lies an older mansion which was abandoned thirty years ago. The previous Governor, Elizabeth Parkin, was found dead, ripped apart. Their son, the current Governor, chose to abandon it in favour of a new mansion on the rise in the centre of Poplin.

What the residents of Poplin don’t know is that Jacob Parkin was responsible for the heart attack. He located the Planar Gem of the Beastlands, and upon realising it’s power to attempt to end the “tyrannical” reign of his mother, before falling to prey to exactly the same vices of power that she did, though he already had an unhealthy relationship with fatty foods then, something for which he was constantly admonished by his mother.

In life, Elizabeth was a very vain individual, prizing her beauty above all. Her journals, which can be found in the master bedroom express as much, with plenty of appointments in her calendar for beauty treatments and orders for expensive outfits and jewellery. Elizabeth now haunts the old mansion seeking revenge on her son. She still remains vulnerable to the vices she expressed in life, and will be weakened if she can be shown how far she has fallen from the beauty of her life. A now twisted, corrupted spirit.
