The Circumstances Arrives
Caely Galanodel had been travelling the Chalks for a couple of weeks, running a shipment of sugar from the Poplin outpost. Also secreted away was a large pouch of Moondust. After arriving at the port next to her warehouse, Caely bribed Fendris, the local dock manager, to look the other way, while her main cargo was taken to the warehouse. Caely personally pocketed the Moondust to deliver to their contact in the market.
High on their Supply
In a very different part of town, almost completely at the base of Velour where the floating city tapers to a small dingy maintenance platform, Flint of Ungart was working on fixing some broken pieces of metal together, leftovers from around the city when he arrived. There was a knock on the door, and a smallish rogue stood in the doorway. Flint had ordered Moondust in an attempt to find a reasonable accelerant for his machines. The rogue however did not have the real thing, having used Flint’s order himself, and said that he had heard of someone in the markets who might be receiving a delivery soon.
A Sterling Idea
Jarvis Sterling was prowling the markets in the upper tiers of Velour, having been in Velour for a couple of months since escaping from Poplin in the cargo hold of The Circumstances. Caely arrived to exchange the Moondust. And Jarvis left to deliver it to their friend in the Hallowdawn.
Potions at Hallowdawn
In the basement of the Hallowdawn Guild’s building in uptown Velour, Victory the Swift was extremely bored, having been given a task to produce rat poison by her boss, Lester Brightcloak. Lester arrived in the lab, commanding Victory to run an errand for him. There were reports of pirate raids on the chalks and he had volunteered Victory to put a team together to defeat them. He even volunteered Victory to handle this all by herself, because she had been saying that she could handle things on her own. Brightcloak left cackling about a VERY important meeting he had to go to, about something SUPER TOP SECRET.
Victory was given 600 gold from the Hallowdawn bursar to hire people.
Preparations
Victory arrived in the markets, finding Caely and Jarvis, and she hired their services to defeat the pirates.
In order to prepare for the trip, the new found party decided that the best plan was to steal as many rations as they could. To do this Victory and Caely staged a fight in the street, while Jarvis snuck behind the counter of a nearby shop.
Flint rushed in following Jarvis, and agreed to help out in return for being cut into the job, hoping to fund his machinery projects.
Outside, Victory made a shot of accusing Caely of defaming the Hallowdawn and set alight one of the buildings by ‘mistake’. Fortunately, this worked adn the party made off with the supplies they needed.
Caely filled up the boat with six days of Arcanum Gas and the party were off to Jacquard, hoping to find the pirate ambushers along the way.
