Log Books
Before turning in for the evening, Victory turned herself invisible and went back to the harbour master’s lodge to try and steal the log books for the day that Jarvis went missing. She managed to examine one of the books and found a reference to a boat with ID “RH532” encoded in the margins. It arrived and departed from the bay that Jarvis was dragged to, at the same that he went missing.
Into The Woods
The party tracked the trail of the creature to the edge of the woods and continued to follow until the found an abandoned wooden mansion. Victory spotted that the mansion had been broken into, and there were signs of recent activity.
Exploring the mansion, the party found a large portrait of a human woman wearing the necklace of Poplin’s Governor. As they pulled off the dust sheet covering the portrait the party felt a surge of anger as if it was emanating from the painting.
Upstairs, Biri found a diary in the master bedroom which seemed to belong to Elizabeth Parkin, the previous Governor of Poplin, and the current Governor‘s mother. As Biri started to look through the diary a voice called behind her: “I’d leave that alone if I were you.”.
Dealing with the Dead
Elizabeth Parkin’s ghost had spoken to Biri. Biri left the diary behind and Elizabeth addressed the party as a whole. She tells the party that she was killed by the beast. The thing appeared in the entrance hall of her mansion and she suffered a heart attack. However, more recently the beast had been active again. And she knew why, and who as behind it.
However, in return for this information she requested that the party bring Jacob Parkin, the current governor to her. As she and her son had “unfinished business”. The party reluctantly agreed, and Elizabeth vanished again.
Before the party left, they discovered a hidden room containing a number of crates, and an ornate, but empty, wooden box.
