Biri’s dream
You’re at home. Not the Temple of Bahamut but home home, where you grew up. You’re on a expedition with your mentor Eskel and the Head of the Temple Marcus Brandt. You were on your way back from the nearby town after hearing about a few Ghouls causing problems. You helped with their wounded before returning back along the path. The pass back had been blocked due to a landslide so you ended up diverting through your old village. Eon, your cousin was in your house speaking to your parents when you arrived. As you parted, Eon said “Careful out there, you’re never too young to die Biri.” Eon’s father died after this event. The winter cold killed him.
Examining the Boats
The docks at Tambour were almost completely deserted, most ships had been taken during the evacuation. However there were still a few broken and rusting vessels around.
There was a rusted barge. It’s hull had almost completely rusted away, making it quite a dangerous place to step aboard. The barge was powered by Chalk Sails. The sails were mostly intact, having been stowed before the evacuation. However, the masts themselves needed work, and the ship’s balloon was in tatters.
There was a double decked galley. The engine seemed to have a lot of rust damage. It was potentially salvageable, however it would take a fair bit of work to get it running. The fuel tanks seemed to be full, but the quality of the fuel after sixty years was uncertain. The balloon was deflated as it had a few tears in the material. The hull looked sound.
There was light two person transport ship, most likely used for transporting materials and tools around the refinery. It was unique in that the balloon was thicker, most likely too thick and heavy to have been filled using normal lifting gas. The engine was in one piece, however the rest of the hull seemed to have been damaged during the evacuation.
The rest of the remaining boats were a mix of barges, and the occasional galley. There were four others in total, however all parts appeared to be irrecoverable, and the hulls beyond repair.
Caely attempted to siphon fuel from the galley into her spare portable tank. Two days of gas escaped but Caely manages to get another two days into the spare tank. The galley was left with 6 days of fuel.
On the barge, Biri found a mysterious page that looked to be torn out from a journal. She had discovered an entry from Marcus Brandt’s Journal (August 7th 457).
Trying the West Entrance
The party followed the path up the west side of Tambour from the docks and past the Refinery. In the distance, the party could see a number of dead bodies lying on the ground. Fortunately, Biri managed to sense that the bodies were undead, and the party turned around to try another entrance instead.
On the way back, Caely used Ganymede to check on the Refinery. Inside, she spotted five skeletons and an ogre zombie on the ground floor of the refinery. Ganymede also managed to extract a piece of parchment from the refinery machinery, which turned out to be another page of Marcus Brandt’s journal (February 3rd 489).
Reading through the parchment, Ashok remembered that Shaw and Lithe were legendary heroes who were supposed to have died in the first attacks of The Black Flame Heresy.
Now the East Entrance
The party attempted to sneak into the town from the other side of the docks. Unfortunately they were detected, and all of the dead bodies in the town arose as a zombie horde. The zombies attempted to abduct Ashok, but he used his Turn Unholy ability to repel them. The party fled to the ship, pursued by the horde.
Manoeuvring
The party took the ship out of sight of the zombies, and approached the town from the other side. The zombies remained looking out over the docks where the party had disappeared. Looking down at the town, it appeared that 12 Skeletons had been deployed to patrol the town, mostly centred around the shrine.
The party managed to quietly take out 3 of the skeletons, and kill 4 more before the zombies returned.
Before settling in for the night, Ganymede was sent into the town to explore. They managed to find another page of the journal behind the bar in the tavern (January 20th 469).
Caely’s Dream
Caely was given another task by the Summer Queen. She was told to deliver another metal flower to Lucas Marth. A sub-manager working in the Contract Allocation office of The Federation. He has been refusing to adjust contracts in ways that his subordinate Matthew has been suggesting. Matthew is in fact also bound to serve Titania. In order for Matthew to be promoted to Lucas’ job, he needs to be removed. Titania instructs Caely to deliver the flower in front of Matthew, so that he understands what failure looks like.
Bombs Away
After luring the zombies back to the harbour, Victory used fireball to destroyed the paths to the town, trapping the zombies on the other side. They were forced to the substructure of stilts that the town rests on to work their way back inside, buying precious time for the party.
Collecting pages
Biri used Locate Object, to find the rough locations of the remaining pages of Marcus Brandt’s journal. The party visited Marcus’ house and found that it had been completely trashed. Biri managed to find the original journal, with the first page still in it (June 9th 457). She also found two other pages hidden in the room (March 13th 458, November 4th 464).
