Gathernotch
Gathernotch is the centre of metallurgy in the Seam. Huge factories convert tons of seam fabric into workable metal every day, and ship it all over the Seam.
As opposed to most outposts, Gathernotch’s buildings are either constructed from, or clad in metal, in order to prevent them from catching fire from the ash that the factories produce on a constant basis.
Politics
The Khro Ardol clan own and run Gathernotch. It is their Headquarters in the Seam, as opposed to most other large guilds, who tend to Headquarter in Velour.
History
Gathernotch was founded shortly after the final guild war as a home for all Dwarves under the newly formed Khro Ardol clan. It grew over time to become the centre of metallurgy in the Seam, out-pricing other smaller refineries who were eventually driven out of business.
After the party lost the Planar Gem of Mechanus, the Guild slowly started to discover it’s power over the next few weeks, hijacking the Modrons that had been built by Brurro De’Tansi and using them to make more. Keen to find out as much as they could about the gem and how it could be used, the Triumvirate of the Khro Ardol sent out agents to track down the party to kidnap them and return them to Gathernotch.
Bobby Fisher overheard that this plan was being executed and set out to try and find the party first and warn them of what was happening. Bobby was concerned that the Triumvirate were toying with powers beyond their control, and needed the party to help fix what was happening.
Locations
The Hammer
The Hammer is the industrial district of Gathernotch. It branches out upwards from the Amoruk.
The Docks
The docks sit at the bottom of the Hammer right next to the Amoruk.
Modron Factory
A factory has been rapidly constructed in the Hammer to assist with the construction of modrons. This new building is surrounded by tight security and sits at the top of the Hammer.
Inside, monodrones are working on constructing new modrons and machinery for constructing modrons. There are some dwarves who deal with much of the larger scale work, including shaping material and manipulating machinery, however the complex work is undertaken by modrons who execute processes far outside of organic understanding.
Amoruk - The Heart Bridge
Amoruk is the bridge that joins the Hammer and Tongs. It also acts as the centre of governance for both Gathernotch and The Khro Ardol.
The bridge is six storeys tall and has a basement. The building rises up on either side of the bridge before meeting at the first floor to form an arched covering over the main thoroughfare.
Basement
In the basement of The Heart Bridge are the holding cells for criminals in Gathernotch. Criminals are not usually kept in Gathernotch long term, they are usually shipped off to Ziplock to serve their time there.
The morgue is also in the basement but uses a separate entrance from within Amoruk. There is no direct path between the prison and the morgue.
Ground Floor
One side of the ground floor is the main lobby of Amoruk which extends up into a double height vaulted ceiling. Along the ground is a long, golden desk where a long row of clerks sit to deal with requests.
On the other side of the ground floor is the employee entrance where those who work in the Amoruk enter the building and take either the stairs or the elevators to the upper floors.
First and Second Floor
The first and second floors consist of various offices for managing the businesses of the Khro Ardol and organising work that needs to be done in Gathernotch.
Third Floor
The third floor contains the courts that deal with disputes and criminal justice. It also contains the offices of the various law enforcement agencies.
Fourth Floor
The fourth floor contains laboratories for research and experimentation in order to refine the processes in Gathernotch. It also contains the offices of the members of the Triumvirate and their closest aides. There are also a number of meeting rooms where private meetings of the Triumvirate might take place.
Fifth Floor
The fifth floor houses a double height chamber with stone benches surrounding three chairs and a table. This is where official meetings of the Triumvirate take place. The room is not usually fully occupied except during elections. Mostly the benches are taken by reporters, political aides and other stakeholders in the ongoing activities in Gathernotch.
The Tongs
The Tongs is the residential district of Gathernotch that expands out below the Amoruk.
The Grand Library
The Grand Library is one of the closest buildings to the Amoruk. It is a four storey building that spreads out in two wings from a central entrance.
Outside the library are two bronze statues. One shows a female dwarf with bright eyes and a book tucked under her arm. She has a necklace with the tri-hammer symbol of Khro Ardol around her neck. A plaque on the bottom of the statue reads “Misthel of Amoruk Unrol”. The second statue shows a fierce looking dwarf with a battle-axe over his head roaring in triumph. Around his neck is a necklace with the tri-hammer symbol of Khro Ardol. A plaque on the bottom of the statue reads “Ebnar of Khro Ithrun”.
Inside the library are rows of manuscripts and scrolls detailing the histories of the various clans that make up the Khro Ardol, as well as the histories of the Khro Ardol clan itself. The manuscripts are close behind steel shutters, though most are unlocked. The steel is simply a precaution to protect against flames. The rows of shelves are lit with blue lights that run along the floor of the book shelves. There are also separate study rooms for reading through the manuscripts.
The Brightsteel Blue
The Brightsteel Blue is a jazz bar in down town Gathernotch.
Brurro De’Tansi’s Home
Brurro De’Tansi‘s home sits at the bottom of Gathernotch inside of a renovated tram station. Above the station is a small one bedroom apartment, however there are no furnishings as Brurro never slept there.
At the back of the building, the room opens up into a large factory. The factory has bright white walls and a gantry runs along the side that enters into the tram station. Descending from the gantry the factory floor is split into two rooms, separated by a shutter door. In the second room another gantry runs along the top into an office space.
When the factory was built it was filled with machinery for building Modrons. However, these machines have since been removed and taken to a new factory in the Hammer. The factory wall has also been ripped open in the back room revealing that it does not sit inside Gathernotch proper. The back wall of the tram stations acts as a portal to somewhere else in the Seam where the factory was constructed.
The Broken Wheel
The Broken Wheel is a small bar deep in the Tongs.
It’s owned by Matius, and provides alcoves with small spaces for prayer and worship to gods outside of the traditional dwarven pantheon.
Biri created a shine here with a platinum statue of Bahamut. Writen on the alcove was “Blessed Bahamut the Platinum Dragon. Justice and Good Above All.” with a blue background.
