‘Accidental’ Fire

Fire Planning

The party realised that because of Gathernotch‘s extreme aversion to fire, they may be able to use it to their advantage. If they set fire to the Alchemist’s home, the Khro Ardol would break down the doors to enter. They could then potentially use the confusion to their advantage.

To do this Jarvis disguised himself as an older dwarf, and Victory painted her skin white.

Setting the Fire

Victory and Jarvis set the fire while Caely ran up the street in disguise, yelling for help.

Escaping

Victory and Jarvis managed to avoid Khro Ardol guards and slipped into the Brightsteel Blue. Claudia was disguised in the corner as an old woman hoping to avoid eye-contact with Victory. She was not fortunate enough to do that and was equally unhappy that the party had started a fire, against almost her exact wishes she had expressed the previous day.

Victory and Jarvis were given a key to Claudia’s safe house where they could clean up and lay low for a while.

The Aftermath

After the fire brigade arrive and put out the fire, Biri watched them pull out the body of the alchemist. The entire place was locked off as a crime scene, but from poking around it appeared that all of the Modrons had frozen, statue like. The police were treating them as completely inanimate.

Letter Update

The next morning Victory sent a letter to the Hallowdawn via Claudia. Claudia tried to hide under the table this time but was still unsuccessful in avoiding Victory.

Dear Obis,

We have started our search for the Gem of Mechanus as instructed by you and Claudia. When we tried to enter the building, there was an unfortunate event with a fire. We realised that the Elf who has been ordering all these suspicious items has been dead for at least a week (definitely before we got to Gathernotch).

Whoever killed him must have been going for the orb (unless it was angry neighbours, and I won’t blame them). It seems like his creates are still alive.

So I have a few questions:

1: Is there anyone else who would be seeking for this or any other orb? This is CRUCIAL for all of our travels.
2: Should we keep looking for that orb or are there better ones to look for at present before this one shows up?
3: Can you get one of the researchers to find out that if the orb is necessary in the presence of the machines for them to come alive?

Last request. Would be great if you could give Claudia a little raise, she deserves it ;)
