Summary

In which Claudia gets her job back, an old flame returns, Caely becomes an Admiral, Victory goes on a shopping trip, and Biri becomes shinier.

Captain’s Log: 25 April

Travelling on the Situation

Arrived back in Velour this afternoon. Although it wasn’t bright, Victory and Claudia were wearing their sunglasses for most of the journey back, one can only conclude that the previous night’s jollities were to blame, but they have little sympathy from the helm. Serves them right for making fun of Ganymede.

Victory and Claudia

Upon arrival, Victory and Claudia set off to Hallowdawn, along with the Orb taken from the bag of holding. Although I wasn’t there, I’ve pieced together the details.

I imagine Victory tried to reassure Claudia that she would be polite and respectful when getting Claudia’s job back, but I don’t imagine she was much reassured. Claudia got her job back from Ozak in return for the Orb (Hallowdawn must have 5 gems, and know of 3 more and their approximate whereabouts). Apparently, when asked why the gems are being collected, Ozak replied that the “Hallowdawn’s objectives are bold, and exciting and they will change the seam forever”. Ominous… What is still more ominous was that Oscar Ardarian’s name was mentioned, but apparently he has not been seen for years. They think he might have been a Hallowdawn member at some point. Victory also discovered that Lester Brightcloak was no longer around. He’s been sent away on business.

Finally, Victory found details of the Circumstances, which was ‘being taken care of’ by Hallowdawn agents. Fat lot of care they took – we found it collided with a warehouse on the docks! Requires much more repair… but more of that later… And no sign of the Black Flame.

Biri and Ashok

Biri and Ashok set out to visit the Temple. Upon arrival everything seemed normal, however, the illusion was soon shattered as Khro Ardol dwarves attempted to arrest Biri and two modrons were left to guard Ashok in his Temple. Turns out though that Biri’s slightly piercing voice can be very persuasive, and the Jacquard Trading Company guards who noticed her being dragged through the street noticed the arrest of such a shiningly good person (pun intended) that they immediately leapt to her defence and starting fighting the dwarves! Biri briefly floundered on the floor, before commanding the key from the dwarf leader and, spotting an enigmatic face in the crowd, appeals for help from no-less-than Bobby Fisher!

Still, the first we heard of it was from Biri’s Sending spell:

“Klan Ardol at temple. They tried to arrest me but I got away. I found Bobby Fisher and we ran away.” - Biri
“Where are you running to?” - Victory
“Is Ashok safe? Where are you now? Meet you at the Situation.” - Caely

Titania’s Request

Earlier that morning, I’d told the others I was going for a walk. I made it to the Terminal, seam management sector, must really start doing more cardio on the ship in those long journeys… So many different guilds present and lots of stitch captains around, wondered briefly about a change of career (enough of all this flame nonsense). I found Matthew Gleeson (elf), he’s a little wet, but seemed to get my message, and he will set up a meeting for ‘Haely’ with Lucas tomorrow. That’s when I got the message from Biri and high-tailed it back to the Situation.

Meeting: The Situation Room

Present: Victory (invisible), Caely (masked as human), Biri, Bobby, and Ganymede.
No apologies noted.

  1. What has happened in Gathernotch since the escape:

    • Bobby - He didn’t know how to tell her how things had changed on Gathernotch since Biri had left. And he’d heard that there were plans to go after whoever had sent the letter1.
    • The situation seemed too good to be true with all the Modrons. Something didn’t sit right. There were meetings being held behind doors. He suspected this would lead to another Guild war2.
    • It was confirmed to the meeting that Hannah is okay, and has been released from police custody.

  2. Khro Ardol3

    • They want more information about the gems
    • The key dwarves share gem between themselves? Bobby doesn’t trust the 3 clan chiefs (lifelong elected positions).
    • Bobby suggested that this group remove the gem from Gathernotch, and hopefully remove the issue of war. Bobby might be able to help a little but could not offer much in the way of assistance with this task.
    • Hallowdawn has given 2500 gold to finance this trip to Gathernotch.

  3. Ashok

    • During the meeting, it was suggested to send Ganymede to the Temple to find traces of Ashok. While the Temple doors were closed, there were windows at the back, and looking in, Caely could see Ashok sitting in the pews, with 2 broken piles of scrap metal where she assumed the modrons had been.
    • No sign of any Khro Ardol on route.

  4. The Circumstances

    • It was at this point that Victory announced the news about the Circumstances, finally. Apparently embedded in the roof of a warehouse nearby(!) – her balloon has collapsed, and there are guards looking after it.
    • It was noted that Gathernotch is on the look out for the Circumstances heading its way. So can’t take it, should take The Situation instead.

1Bobby - when he was a kid he had an encounter with a wizard, and since then he’s only talked in the third person.
2The Guild Wars was a period of time with more antagonistic tradings between Guilds, which came to an end around 200 years ago.

The Circumstances

Climbing up onto the deck of the Circumstances, it is clear that there has been some hull damage, possible internal structural damage, and the balloon is deflated due to a small tear. Biri flew the Situation and towed the Circumstances off the warehouse, to pull in along Caely’s dock and warehouse.

Victory took Biri up to Hallowdawn to look in vault for the gem and some pages. They did not find missing pages of book in the building.
In the vault they saw 5 gems:

  • Silver gem with sharp angles – Biri could tell no one else attuned to it currently (Mount Celestia)
  • Curved claw shaped ivory gem with lime green glow (The Beastlands)
  • Black sphere – radiating malevolence (Abyss).
  • Grey sphere drawing all colour out of the world (Hades).
  • Cobra shaped green gem – triangle engraved with two smaller triangles (Ghenna).

When Biri gently stroked the gem to say goodbye, she was surprised by a vision of a skyship on a chalked route with woman leaning over the edge. She had a stern expression, which twisted into a grin, as her eyes flashed red.

Ganymede kept watch over the three ships overnight, and turned into a tricorn hat.

They have nicknamed our Situation, the Frankenship… has somewhat of a ring to it.

We paid 800G (700G from party funds, 50G from each Caely and Biri for deep black navigation kit for the Situation) for:

  • 100G for a new balloon for the Hiccup
  • 500G for repairing the Situation
  • 150G for deep black navigation for the Situation
  • 200G for repairs, and 50G for balloon repair for the Circumstances

More Shopping

Biri went to see her armourer, and got a chain mail shirt.

Victory bought ingredients for 3 bags of potion ingredients, sold her spark dust, and researched the cost of elemental scrolls:

  • 750G for conjure minor elemental
  • 1500G for conjure major elemental

Victory also sold the rest of the bronze and paid us 500G each for personal spending.
