Reporting In

At the Hallowdawn, Victory is asked to wait while Ozak’s meeting wraps up.

While waiting in the lobby she realises that she’s getting a few looks. She seems to have made somewhat of a name for herself.

She gossips briefly with the bursar, about current happenings. Lester has been out on business, and there have been no recent letters from him. There are two new juniors in the poisons department, and Claudia is also left on business.

Four senior mages depart from Ozak’s office as Victory is sent in. She briefly overhears a discussion:

“Well we’re not sure exactly where it’ll end up, but somewhere between those two continents.”
“Yes, but it’s been so long, is it even possible?”
“We can’t be sure, but if the gems are what they say…”

Victory can’t recall any continents or anything referred to as continents within the Seam.

On entering the office, Ozak greets her saying that they were just talking about her. Victory hands over the gem, and Ozak requests details of the alliance that’s been forged with the Khro Ardol. He seems happy with the arrangement.

Victory requests a library pass for Biri, tracking contracts for Caely (speak to the Bursar), and a day shadowing Ozak to learn diplomacy from him. He’s reluctant to give Victory any of his time, but instead suggests that she spend time with Master Vincent, the Hallowdawn’s Master Diplomat. He is also the Hallowdawn’s spy-master.

In terms of new jobs, the only one he’s giving her is to find the gem in the caves, a task she’s already been given. He does agree to an increased level of financial support for the longer journey time, and gives an extra 4000 gold to fund the journey.

Lester hasn’t been heard from in five weeks. He seems to receive messages but does not reply. He’s in Hopsack to settle a dispute in which a gem may have been involved. Victory offers to rescue/check on him, and is given papers of access for the library as a result.

There are some disputes between the Githzerai in Hopsack and the Hallowdawn. The Hallowdawn made a slightly questionable take-over and the relationships are not fantastic. There were rumours of something powerful being found in the library, which could be the gem.

On Ozak’s desk is a large document which he has been studying, unfortunately Victory was unable to see it.

Victory chats with the Bursar before leaving, agreeing to ask Caely to check in about potential cargo contracts.

Master Vincent takes Victory in for a day of training.

Element-ary My Dear

Victory arranges a practice session with Agni Magmin. Agni reveals that he is a member of the Empedocles, a guild that is widely believed to be extinct. The truth is that after the Guild Wars and rise of the Federation, they had to go underground. Agni inducts Victory as an initiate in the Empedocles.

Hard (to Sell) Drugs

Caely takes some time to think about her contacts who might be interested in the Moondust. She comes up with either Riet Kempers or Bosco Hornwood. In the end she decides to sell to Bosco, as he doesn’t have ties to the Red Hand. He’s a pretty young dealer who’s never handled product in this quantity, but he’s keen to get this shot. Caely arranges a deal to sell the 2kg of Moondust for 6500 gold.

Surprise Guest

As Caely is relaxing on the Circumstances, there is a knock on the door.

As she opens the door, she is greeted by the sight of Matthew Gleeson. He’s covered in blood, and holding a knife.

“I think I’ve fucked up”.
